If you talk to anybody from this era they will tell you that.... "Summers were always hot and winters were cold". Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile on the 27 July. If it was so hot in the Summers why is everyone wearing an overcoat? Oh yes! the time 3:59.4

Chris Chatterway

 

Chris The Magnificent that is what they called the great Chris Chatterway beat the Russian Iron Man Vladimir Kuts at the White City on the 13th October. The crowd of 40,00 watched as he broke the world record for the 5,000 metres (3 miles 188 yards) in the new record time of 13:51.6
